VIOLENCE IN THE NAME OF SECULARISM

Entry of women into Sabarimala temple has long been a matter of discussion with many people presenting their own arguments and debates about women restriction imposed in the temple. However the women under the age of 10 and above 50 have no restrictions in the temple.

According to temple authorities, the restrictions on young women is imposed because the Lord himself is a Celibate Brahmachari and it would not be appropriate for young women to enter the temple. However this argument was countered by many people and claimed that fundamental rights had to be addressed first.

Now, when we consider the rights of women in society, yes they should be given full rights, after all no one has the right to restrict women of their fundamental rights. But the question of women entry in Sabarimala is not based on women rights or discrimination, but rather based on certain beliefs and traditions of people which in no way demean women rights. People who go to Sabarimala follow a strict discipline of being away from wife, sleeping on floor, taking cold water bath twice a day, performing rigorous pooja, not smoking or drinking, not enjoying life going to movies, not wearing slippers for 41 days after which they carry the irumudi (the offerings to God) on their head and walk to the temple. So, for a women to perform these rituals for 41 days continuously it will be difficult given the biological constraints she has.

Non-involvement of stake holders or Hindu Women devotees has created opportunity to vultures to use the opportunity to destroy Hindu religion, Today morning, so called journalists and activists like Rehana Fatima, Mary Sweety and Kavitha koshy started forcibly entering the temple. The question is not about their entry, but did they perform the rituals and follow the 41 day rigorous rules which every one is suppose to follow?
Just because they call themselves activists, do they have the right to break age old traditions and hurt the sentiments of millions?
The worst part is, all these women who tried to enter the Sabarimala, are not even Hindus nor believe in any Hindu culture and have constantly maligned the Hindu religion. Rehana Fatima is the same person who started the Kiss of Love movement which was later found to be a ploy to divide society by left activists. The couples who launched this movement were said to be involved in prostitution activities and ran brothel houses. On the Facebook pages of Rehana Fatima had posted indecent pictures and mocked the Hindu religion and its traditions.

So, the question is on what basis does she call herself a Ayyappa Swamy devotee? On what basis does she demand the entry to the temple. While everyone follows 41 day rituals before going to Sabarimala, how can she break the rules of the temple and insult the religious beliefs?
In Hinduism, no temple is considered a picnic spot where people can just enter and behave as they wish. Every temple has its own traditions and beliefs which every true follower would follow. But these fake activists who try to showcase their rights breaking and disrespecting temple are only provoking devotees.
The ladies behavior showing disrespect, has caused extreme anger among the devotees who have blocked their entry into the temple. Saddened by the incidents, the Sabarimala Temple authority decided to close the temple doors until the issue is resolved and such brazen acts are stopped.
Do we need such people who have maligned Hindus all their life claim rights over Sabarimala temple? Do we need such people to enter Ayyapa temple or any other temple?
While most Hindu women are are expecting a logical end to the problem without hurting anyone’s sentiments, such brazen and shameless attitude of these left liberal activists has caused a great distress to the temple and its devotees. Let those pseudo activists understand that temples are not a place of trip or picnic and they have no rights to break rules. Allowing such people to showcase their rights, seems like an attempt by left organisation and Missionaries to deliberately spoil the environment of Sabarimala and there by stopping the real devotees from coming.
