Viswasam trailer review: Veeram 2.0

By Akshay

When you hear loud challenges, whizzing sound of knives, A loser yelping being thrown in towards the camera and see a smiling face with a catchphrase; it means 'Siruthai' Siva is upto something with Ajith Kumar. This time the line is 'Adichuthookalama'(Let's beat the heck out).

This is the 4th outing of Siva and Ajith and 3rd consequently from Vedalam(2015). It wouldn't be wrong to think Siva naming it Viswasam (faith) since Ajith has a lot of faith on the former.

After a trial and error of Vivegam, critics and Ajith fans alike were cynical of the duo. With all the eyes on Siva, who is good with mass commercial entertainers seems to be in his turf in Viswasam. And this looks very conducive in Siva regaining his reputation.

In the trailer, there are details only to Thookudurai (Old Ajithkumar) and the young Ajith is carefully kept aside to avoid spoilers presumably.

Thookudurai looks like a local leader as, in almost every cut he is shown people are folding hands to him as if treating him their Messiah.

Nayanthara just fits the bill of a proper village girl, draped in saree lifting a stack of hay. And there is a tiny banter between 'Robo' Shankar and Ajith that hints at the helping comedy scenes would add to the movie.

Jagapathi babu comes across as corporate bigshot in a suave blazer. That looks a tad misfit as many of us have seen him play a local villain. At least, this Villain of Siva unlike his previous villains doesn't praise the hero making the contest a dead-rubber.

In the last cut, Ajith calls out his enemy and gives his details that clearly shows revenge and family element. But the intriguing part is, whether Nayanthara is Thookudurai's wife or Young Ajith's or is there just one Ajith. As, young Ajith in wooing Nayanthara doesn't take out her name and his name too isn't given.

There are many questions that Viswasam trailer has evoked. This could be an entertaining fare if the movie lives up to the hypes of the trailer. For which, we will have to wait till January 10.
